Susan gifted her husband a couples fused glass class for his birthday. By the end of the day, he was not impressed, but she fell in love with it! That set her on the path of more classes, studio time rentals, and then her own workshop! Susan enjoys learning a variety of processes and then experimenting with different glasses, procedures and heat. Prior to life with glass, she enjoyed creating with icing, veggies, flowers, paper, beads, fabric and anything else that passed through her hands, all while raising a family, teaching entrepreneurs who are blind and running businesses. Susan is a composite of the spirit of all people, places and things that preceded this day. All of which enhance her glass art.

The final burnishing coat etches exquisite details into the picture using hard and soft pastel pencils.”

Paulette Smyth received a BA degree in Art Education from Michigan State University in 1972. She continued her art education by way of classes on photography, batik, and graphic design at Morehead State University (1977-1979), and then studied watercolor under the tutelage of Ding Dong Daddy at Florida State University (1982-1983). Paulette has taught art to students ranging in age from 3 to 70 in a variety of mediums to include watercolors, acrylic, pottery, floral arrangement, and batik. Paulette is an avid swimmer, animal advocate, nature lover, and hiker. She and her dog, Rebel, and now Tyson, have come to know Susquehanna State Park like the back of their hand and paw over the course of the past 22 years. After taking a lengthy detour to become a reference librarian for the Harford County Public Library, she has once again taken up the brush.
